Belatedly

By Kate Garrett

Back in the time of the dinosaurs, we launched a competition to celebrate the publication of  Riding In Cars With Girls by our very own Evangeline Jennings. The results were due a week or two ago, but real life intervened and Evangeline had to eff off and do stuff in the real world for a while. But she’s back on the internet now and catching up with all the things she should have done, including picking the winning entries in this competition.

And so, with very little further ado, based on a blind reading of the many writing prompts that were submitted, here are the winning entries:

Second Prize
The second prize goes to Nicole Brown in Alabama, whose prompt for a Cars and Girls story was:

  • Road: Highway 69
  • Car: Red 2002 Ford Thunderbird
  • Song: Me and Bobby McGee
  • Girl’s Name: Karis

Nicole will receive:

  • A Riding In Cars With Girls ebook
  • A Pankhearst Goodie Bag
  • All three of Evangeline’s 2014 Kindle Singles
  • The new Cars and Girls Kindle Single Beretta which will be written using the winning prompt

First Prize
The second prize goes to Rachel Nix, also in Alabama, whose prompt for a Cars and Girls story was:

  • Road: Natchez Trace – extends from Natchez, MS to Nashville, TN
  • Car: Chevrolet Beretta
  • Song: Dirty Frank by Pearl Jam
  • Girl’s Name: Maggie

Rachel’s prize will include

  • A signed paperback copy of Riding In Cars With Girls
  • Two paperback copies (out of three in total) of Evangeline’s next Kindle Single Beretta which will be written using her winning answers as a prompt.
  • The Kindle Single itself.
  • A Pankhearst Goodie Bag
  • All three of Evangeline’s 2014 Kindle Singles

Apparently Evangeline has a instinctive, subconscious thing for Alabama girls. Or maybe Alabama women just really get Cars and Girls?

Congratulations to the winners, and thank you to everyone who entered the competition. I’m looking forward to seeing what Evangeline’s new Kindle Single has to say …
